Wood Kitchen Countertop Remnants

The installation of wood kitchen countertop can be a do-it-yourself project, but when it comes to wood countertop, the success of the project greatly depends on the expertise and skills of the installer. There are several ways on how to install wood kitchen countertops so that they can last for a lifetime. One of the most popular choices of wood kitchen countertop is teak wood. But before you choose teak wood, it is important to know that this wood is not exactly an ordinary wood but it is a wood that has high resiliency towards moisture and temperature. Therefore, the wood could easily swell or shrink depending upon the exposure to changes in temperature and moisture.

Teak wood is best suited for outdoor use because it is resistant to insects and fungal infection. Aside from being resistant to moisture, wood kitchen countertop is also resistant to termites. Moreover, wood flooring such as wood tiles are best suited for outdoor use and they are also resistant to mold and mildew. If you want to install wood kitchen countertop in your kitchen, the first thing you have to do is to remove the existing flooring and then clean and wash the area exposed to moisture. You have to vacuum clean the entire floor and then remove any food particles that could cause mold and mildew to develop.

Once you finished with the cleaning process, you can already start the installation process of wood kitchen countertop. First, you can already attach the wood pieces onto the floor. However, if you find the wall to be difficult to attach to, you can use some wood glue and hammer. Just make sure that you cover the area around the wood pieces with the wood glue to prevent any damages due to hammering.

Once you have attached the wood pieces on the floor, you can now install the topcoat of wood countertop. There are many ways on how you can accomplish the installation. You can choose from siding, painting, or staining. All of these methods will require a different amount of time and effort so you have to determine which one will suit your needs best.

The next step is to fill the remaining space between the wood countertop and the floor by using some wood putty. The wood putty will help you fill up any spaces that exist between the wood countertop and the floor. By using putty, you can easily fill up the spaces until you finally get to your desired wood kitchen countertop. Just be sure that the putty that you use is waterproof.

You can also add some finish on the wood countertop. There are a lot of finishes that you can try such as the French polish. This type of wood kitchen countertop can be very appealing. This is because this particular finish can help give you the perfect look for your kitchen.

Once you are done with your wood kitchen countertop, it would be better if you can paint it. A dark stain would be a perfect match for this particular wood countertop. Just be sure that you choose a stain that is water proof and stain that is very durable. This is to prevent the wood countertop from being scratched. By choosing the right stain, you will not have to worry about damaging your wood countertop.

Last but not least, if you really want to save money, you can simply hire a contractor to install your wood kitchen countertop. This is especially helpful if you are not that good when it comes to doing DIY projects. Do not worry though, because hiring a contractor is not that expensive. Aside from that, you will not have to do anything else except to wait for the contractor to finish installing your wood kitchen countertop. After everything is done, you will surely be satisfied with your wood kitchen countertop.
